1. How do solar dryer work?
Ans. Solar Dryer works on the principle of greenhouse effect, in which solar radiation gets trapped inside the closed chamber. It has two section: one is collector area, where heat is generated using black floor and second is drying area, where fresh products are kept to dry. The trapped radiation produces heated air in collector which is then blowed over fresh products using a constant air supply from fan results in vaporisation of moisture and then moisturised air goes out from other side of tunnel.

2. Can we keep tray over black collector area?
Ans. No, it will affect the quality of dehydrated product.

3. How many days do it take to dehydrate fresh products?
Ans. The drying time can vary from 3 hrs upto several days. It majorly depends on the type of product, thickness of the product, moisture content, environmental conditions and availability of sun.

4. Can we dehydrate seafood and non-veg using solar dryer?
Ans. Yes, you can dehydrate both of them. Make sure to cut them thin.

5. How much is going to be transportation cost?
Ans. It depends upon the distance from our manufacturing plant, which is based in Indore. As the design of solar dryer is foldable and light weight, don’t worry the cost is going to be minimum.

6. How many days will it take to reach us?
Ans. We have the stock ready, once we receive the full payment. We start doing the final steps which are final inspection and packaging. We dispatch solar dryer after the final steps which takes between 1-2 days excluding holidays and Sundays. After dispatch, it depends on transporter and distance.

7. What is the life of product? Any guarantee or warrantee?
Ans. Among all parts, minimum life is of covering sheet which is 5 years. Other than that, only operating part is solar panel which has life of 25 years and rest structure life depends upon regular cleaning and maintenance. There is no guarantee or warrantee of the product, after the life of sheet, we can supply you the new covering sheet, which cost just 1/10th of the solar dryer. You can buy covering sheet from us anytime by replacing old sheet.

8. Who is going to install the solar dryer?
Ans. You don’t need to invest on someone to come and install the solar dryer. We have designed solar dryer as DIY model (Do it yourself), it means you can install it by yourself. For the same, we will provide you with assembly manual and also, training manual on how to use solar dryer.

9. What is the difference between polyhouse design tunnel dryer and other solar dryer?
Ans. Polyhouse is especially designed to dehydrate fresh products with low moisture, whereas in the other solar dryer, you can dehydrate any type of fresh product.

10. What is the ideal time and conditions to keep fresh produce inside solar dryer?
Ans. The ideal time is always as early as possible during the morning. You must check weather conditions of that day before keeping the products inside solar dryer. The fresh produce need atleast 4-5 hrs of sunlight on first day.

11. Do we have to take out product during night?
Ans. No, you don’t have to take them out.

12. Does solar dryer is rain proof?
Ans. Yes, it is rain proof unlike open sun drying, where you have to worry about sudden rain. It won’t damage your products inside your solar dryer. You can keep your produce inside for 2 days incase of continuous rainfall. If it exceed, then you have to take out product and keep them inside otherwise it will absorb moisture again and get spoiled.

13. Will solar dryer work during the winter and rainy season?
Ans. Solar dryer require sunlight to operate, which is available 300 days in India. But, when the conditions are cloudy, try to dehydrate low moisture products, whereas during rainy season, it doesn’t work well because of high moisture in air, which might affect your product quality.

14. Is there any government subsidy on solar dryer?
Ans. Regarding the subsidy, you can consult with your local administrations.

15. What do you mean by average capacity?
Ans. For example: In Sahaj ( RSFP D20 ), the average capacity that we have quoted is 20 kg. In the same solar dryer, we can keep upto 30 kg of heavy product like ginger and turmeric, whereas for light products like leafy vegetables, we can keep upto 10 kg. Hence, the average capacity is 20 kg.

16. What are the available capacities in the Samagra?
Ans. The design of Samagra is modular, as it can be designed in the multiple of 20 kg. Starting from 40 kg, 60 kg, 100 kg, 120 kg………..so on.
